Lifesaving Water Deliveries Preventing Dehydration
Addressing severe groundwater salinity and freshwater shortages across coastal settlements in Hodeidah Governorate, Yemen Relief Organization maintained regular operations of dedicated water-trucking fleets filling communal public tanks in camps and villages.
Operational Scope
- Daily Volume: Transporting and offloading more than 80,000 liters of treated, chlorinated drinking water each day.
- Community Tanks: Refilling 60 communal holding bladders situated at central camp gathering points.
- Quality Testing: Weekly laboratory bacterial assays ensuring full conformity with health standards.
This initiative significantly reduces waterborne gastrointestinal illnesses and shields impoverished families from expensive private commercial water trucks.
